California Lemon Laws – Passenger vehicles are covered under California lemon laws, but motorcycles are not. Dealer owned vehicles and “demo” cars are covered. California Civil Code 1793.22 states that a car is a lemon if 2 repair attempts for a defect that may cause death or serious injury have been performed. Otherwise, 4 repair attempts or 30 calendar days out of service can make the car qualify as a lemon but must be reported within 18 months or 18,000 miles, whichever comes first.
