South Dakota Lemon Laws – Only new cars, light trucks, or motorcycles are covered under this state’s lemon laws. If it weighs over 10,000 pounds, it is not covered. South Dakota has no time period after which the car can gain lemon status, instead it must go through 4 repair attempts and an additional final repair attempt, after that, the dealer must conform to section 32-6D-3. The owner has 1 year or 12,000 miles to make their claim, whichever comes first.
